About the Role
The Certification & Development specialist will lead the implementation, maintenance, and continuous improvement of food safety, sustainability, and carbon‑footprint standards for our fresh fruit and vegetable (F&V) Controlled Environment Agriculture (CEA) operations. Working closely with production, quality, and supply‑chain teams, you will ensure compliance with global standards, drive certification readiness, and support the adoption of digital traceability tools that enhance transparency and market access.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage end‑to‑end certification processes for GlobalG.A.P., RFA, RA, FSA, Organic, and Fair Trade, including audit preparation, documentation, and corrective‑action implementation.
- Develop and execute training programs for farm staff and managers on standard requirements, best practices, and carbon‑accounting methodologies.
- Lead carbon‑footprint assessments and reporting, collaborating with sustainability analysts to integrate carbon metrics into farm management systems.
- Oversee the deployment and maintenance of digital traceability platforms, ensuring accurate data capture from planting to harvest and post‑harvest handling.
- Liaise with external auditors, certification bodies, and buyers to address queries, negotiate terms, and communicate compliance status.
Requirements
- Minimum 3 years of hands‑on experience with at least three of the listed certification standards in a commercial horticulture or CEA setting.
- Demonstrated knowledge of carbon accounting principles and/or experience with farm‑level digital traceability solutions.
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills with the ability to interpret audit findings and develop actionable improvement plans.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities, capable of training diverse teams and building relationships with external stakeholders.
